Kids and Carseats
I don’t know what its like where you live, but I have noticed that there are a lot of folks here in the Rio Grande Valley that don’t put their kids in carseats. How can these people be so stupid? And its not just babies that aren’t buckled in. Its not uncommon to see kids that may be too big for a car seat (even though the carseat I have for my kid will accomodate up to 100 lbs.) standing in the back or front seat of a vehicle. It just blows my mind how parents will risk so much out of laziness. There is just no excuse to go without a carseat. An ‘expensive’ car seat costs $150. Is this too much to pay for a device that could quite possibly mean the difference between life an death? No way. Say you can’t afford it? Well, after a few keystrokes at Google, I found two healthcare programs that offer free baby car seats here and here. Even though they are regional programs, I’m sure there are local programs nationwide that provide freebie car seats, if you just look around. Again, no excuse folks. Save your kids life! Buckle’em up!
